Don’t even consider attempting to learn a foreign language unless your heart is in it - you will wasting your time. No matter how easy you find learning a new language is, you should not just take it for granted, because then you will just end up having a hard time. If speaking Spanish is your ambition, there are various ways in which you can go about it: firstly, colleges and universities offer Spanish language classes thinking that it might be very beneficial for the students, and actually it is. In case you think that you might be over age to join classes with a bunch of young people, then opt for their language programs. From what I know, schools offer crash courses in different languages during school break, especially during summer.

For people looking for a position where speaking Spanish is a requirement, some languages companies can arrange ‘crash’ courses and help with finding that job afterwards. Aside from that, you’ll see lots of dictionaries in bookshops that could really help you if you have no time to attend a class. Lots of self-help books are also available where there are lots of sentences in Spanish with their English translations appearing at the bottom. There is the ever so trusted Internet where you can find loads of free tutorials on Google or yahoo. Fortunately, speaking Spanish is more about learning phonetically so it isn’t just about reading books on the subject But, you can listen using Internet, too and there are webcasts and podcasts available and what’s great is that some sites will allow you to download it, all you have to do is just type your fingers away!
Yet it is far simpler to learn a language if you listen to it so do not depend too much on books as there are plenty of materials for you to listen and watch, like songs, movies and tele-novels. Looking at pictures is a great help, and when you learn a Spanish word, you would ever forget its meaning if you know what it looks like. If you have the financial resources as well as the time, there is no better way to learn a language than to be amidst people who communicate in that language all the time. Once you get closer to the people, their culture and ethos, you would be speaking Spanish in the quickest possible way.
Do not tax your self too much while learning, as the more tensed you are the more frustrated you would get. When one is in a Spanish speaking country, one cannot help but try to copy the accent and way of talking of the natives. Do not be embarrassed when you make mistakes as you are expected to make some howlers but then, you are a beginner trying hard to grasp a language. Anyway, when making mistakes, you learn and you get to remember the correct way, so just enjoy the learning process, have much fun as you can and buena suerte!
